On 10th August 2024, the "International Biofuel Day" was celebrated at Sri Maruti Composite Pre-University College, Kod village, Hirekerur Taluk. The event, organized in collaboration with various entities including the Karnataka State Biofuel Development Board, District Biofuel Oversight Committee Haveri, Haveri District Biofuel Research and Demonstration Center, and Navodaya Educational and Environment Development Service (NEEDS), focused on raising awareness about biofuels and included a sapling planting program. Keynote speakers, such as Ravindra Gowda F. Patil from the Karnataka State Farmers Association, emphasized the need to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and adopt biofuels to mitigate environmental pollution. The event saw participation from over 220 students, teachers, and community members, making it a significant step towards promoting sustainable energy practices.
